We've entered into the last days of counting down to Pentecost. This will mark 50 days since Passover. Since our Gregorian calendar doesn't always match up with the Hebraic calendar, sometimes our dates will differ. This Sunday will be 7 weeks since the Passover. A very important feast is commemorated on this day, Pentecost. Pentecost is not only the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out, it is also the birth of the Church, establishing what many theologians call the Church Age, and it is much more significant because it is also the time when we celebrate the giving of the Torah, God's Holy Word. We see a blending of the Old with the New in one seamless voice. A message of Good News to the whole world.
This is exciting because we are kicking off a season of reading the Word out loud and praying in a continuous fashion. Beginning tonight at 7 pm, we will open the Scriptures and begin reading in Genesis 1:1 in the Old Testament and Matthew 1:1 in the New Testament, and for the next 40 days, we will continue to read straight through the Bible. We will keep a log of where the last reader left off so that we will be able to read every precious word God spoke to us in His Holy Word. Below is a link for you to sign up for a Reader's Slot or a Prayer Slot. The idea is that we would fill the sanctuary with Word and Prayer. The time slots will be for morning until evening with a curfew of 9 pm so no one is at the church too late.
In order to sign up, you'll need to fill out this short form and be able to physically come down to the church property. Praying and Reading will be done on the premises. We are doing this as a church family and therefore must be actively engaged in the ongoing vision of the house.
